Move your lessons to the barn!
The FBN as an extracurricular place of learning offers the opportunity to get to know different farm animals and their husbandry conditions. Within the framework of an excursion, you can learn everything about conventional and organic animal husbandry and animal welfare on site.
Experts will be at your side to provide detailed explanations. Discuss with the experts about factory farming, improving animal welfare or greenhouse gas emissions.
We focus on the relationship to the production of food and show what work has to be done to achieve this.
We currently offer barn tours for the following animal species: pig and cattle (goats are in preparation).
In the Experimental Animal Facilitiy Pig, you have the rare opportunity to observe the processes in a pigsty from our visitor corridor. Get to know the different barn departments, from the birth of the piglets to the rearing and later selection of the breeding animals.
The Experimental Animal Facility Cattle shows the special features of research, as well as conventional dairy cattle husbandry in the so-called loose housing. Research fields such as feed composition, calf rearing and animal behaviour are highlighted.
