Providing strategic and operational support for research projects

Research funding at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) creates the ideal conditions for excellent research. It helps researchers turn their ideas into innovative and successfully funded research projects.

Support from the initial project idea through to implementation

The strategic and operational planning of research projects is comprehensively and proactively supported at the FBN. Applicants and project participants receive support at every stage: from developing a project idea and selecting suitable funding programmes, through to submitting the application and the administrative management of the project.
The aim is to relieve researchers of formal and organisational tasks, thereby creating more scope for scientific work.

Advice on funding programmes

The Research Funding Office provides advice on funding opportunities from the federal and state governments, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the European Union and other national and international funding organisations.
It supports both individual projects and collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects. Suitable funding instruments are identified at an early stage and tailored to the specific scientific research question.

Scholarships and academic mobility

The advisory services also include individual scholarships, travel grants and funding opportunities for research stays abroad. Support is also provided for visiting scholars from Germany and abroad at the FBN.
In this way, the Research Funding Department strengthens the successful acquisition of third-party funding, academic careers and the FBN’s national and international collaboration.
