Abstract:
New and innovative breeding approaches for the aquaculture of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell, 1822) are being developed. These will be directly applied and validated in practice on the largest catfish farm in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (M-V). In addition to breeding improvement, the aim of this applied research project is to achieve a robust and economically efficient breeding strategy for genetic trait enrichment for local catfish populations and to implement the developed method in the production of regional fingerlings.
