KI-Tierwohl - Animal Welfare Monitoring in Farm Animals

Contact: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Birger Puppe

Duration: 2025-2029

Funding: EFRE (State Funding Institute M-V)

Abstract:

Within the KI-TIERWOHL network, the work package “Animal Welfare Monitoring in Farm Animals” is responsible for the basic recording and ethophysiological analysis of welfare-relevant behavioural patterns in pigs and cattle. To this end, data on animal activity, social behaviour and vocalisation are analysed and made available to network partners for the development and improvement of systems for automated animal identification and behaviour analysis. The functionality of these technologies will be validated and overarching approaches and animal-based indicators of animal welfare will be developed.
