Abstract:
The Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) is a highly endangered species whose populations continue to decline despite numerous conservation measures. Due to the high demand for sturgeon products, particularly caviar, the Siberian sturgeon is already being bred in aquaculture facilities. This breeding helps to reduce the pressure on wild populations and improve the sustainability of fisheries. The aim of this project is to produce and characterise Siberian sturgeon cell lines for further use in the industry.
