Combining strengths to achieve excellent research results
The Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) pursues a holistic and systemic approach with its research programme. It considers all levels of the biological system in interdisciplinary cooperation.
The research topics are often qualified by the involvement of external experts. For this reason, the FBN also deals with research questions of high scientific and societal relevance in a transdisciplinary form. In order to find solutions to complex societal challenges, the FBN is involved in research alliances and networks that include representatives from other sectors of society, such as business enterprises and interest groups, in addition to traditional academic research institutions. Scientific projects and teaching can be complemented with high-level expertise via cooperation formats.
Collaboration with universities is very important at the FBN. This enables synergies to be created in the regional and supra-regional research landscape. At the FBN, scientific leadership positions are filled as joint professorships.
