The basis for an interdisciplinary and systemic research approach at the Research Institute of Farm Animal Biology (FBN) is the spatially and content-wise concentrated cooperation of efficient working groups with a high degree of specialisation for the various biological functional levels worked on.

We conduct research into responsible livestock farming as an indispensable part of sustainable agriculture. The animal is at the centre of scientific questions, from the genome to metabolism and behaviour.
