Presenting young research from the Rostock region - that's the goal of the radio series "Wellenlänge Wissenschaft", which started on October 17 at Radio Lohro 90.2. On every third Tuesday of the month, the candidates of the science communication competition "Rostocks Eleven" will talk live on the radio about their research, but also about their everyday life in science. The show is hosted by Dr. Kirstin Werner from the University of Rostock and Isabel Haberkorn from FBN.
Each studio guest has the opportunity to give the show his or her own musical and thematic character: "Our interview partners bring music that they like or that accompanies them in their everyday research," explains Dr. Kirstin Werner the concept of the show. "In addition, they can also place thematic focuses outside their doctoral topic that shape their everyday life in scientific research or that are particularly important to them."
The kick-off show was designed by the winner of "Rostocks Eleven 2023", Annkatrin Pahl. In conversation with the presenters, she gave exciting insights into the research field of behavioral physiology and her doctoral thesis topic, the social relationships of dairy cows. But topics such as research with animals and the conditions for young scientists were also addressed. The whole broadcast is available for re-listening in the Lohro-Mediathek until 24.10.2023 (in German only).
The next broadcast will go on air on November 21, 2023, again from 6 to 7 p.m., this time with Denise Avellan from the University of Rostock, who will talk about gender roles and identities in the poetry of Karoline von Günderode. LGBTQI* in the early 19th century? Take a listen!
