PIGWEB project annual conference with stakeholder meeting and student project

To this end, eleven leading research institutes and five companies from ten European countries have joined forces. The network not only serves to exchange experiences, but also aims to improve the quality of research and standardise methods to reduce the number of necessary experiments. Non-invasive research methods that minimise harm to the animals are also a key common goal.
As part of the annual conference, the participants will be discussing the interim results halfway through the five-year project phase until Friday. The central and public stakeholder meeting will take place on Thursday, bringing together experts from all over Europe to discuss current issues in pig research. In seven short presentations, the researchers will provide insights into issues relating to research infrastructure requirements, ethical assessments, feeding options and interaction with society.
The symposium will also include a visit by an eleventh-grade school class. Under the title PIGTALK, they will gain an insight into the current state of research, visit the experimental facilities for piglet feeding and rearing and then discuss with the FBN scientists.
