This year's joint conference of the German Society for Plant Breeding Science (DGfZ) and the Society for Animal Sciences (GfT), which took place on September 18/19 at the University of Göttingen, was an opportunity for FBN PhD students to present their dissertation projects.

In his role as Chairman of the Society for Animal Sciences, FBN Executive Board member Prof. Klaus Wimmers welcomed the participants to the annual conference.
The next conference, which is planned for 25 and 26 September 2025, will be organized by the FBN and the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (AUF) and hosted in Rostock.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Züchtungskunde e.V. (DGfZ) was founded in 1905 as a non-profit association and sees itself as a cross-species link between science, administration and practice as well as the upstream and downstream sectors. The GGfZ deals with genetic-statistical issues in the livestock sciences as well as current issues relating to food production.

Animal breeders, keepers and feeders, veterinarians, scientists, students, research institutions and organizations from the field of agricultural livestock science and the production of agricultural food are organized in the DgfZ.
