With this accolade, the IHK honours companies and institutions within the Rostock IHK district that demonstrate a particular commitment to high-quality vocational training.
The award underlines the high priority placed on vocational training at the FBN. As a non-university research institute, the FBN offers young people practical insights into modern research, animal husbandry, laboratory work and administration. Trainees work in a scientific environment that addresses key future issues in livestock biology, animal health, animal welfare and sustainable agriculture.
In principle, the following vocational training programmes can be undertaken at the FBN:
- Biological Laboratory Technician (m/f/d)
- Livestock Manager (m/f/d), specialising in cattle farming
- Livestock Manager (m/f/d), specialising in pig farming
- Office Management Assistant (m/f/d)
Through its apprenticeship programmes, the FBN combines scientific excellence with practical vocational training. Apprentices benefit from experienced trainers, modern facilities and the opportunity to play an active role in research, animal care, laboratory work and administration.
The Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) has been awarding the title ‘TOP Training Organisation’ since 2007. In 2026, a total of 101 companies and institutions from Rostock, the Rostock district and Vorpommern-Rügen received the award. The aim of the award is to highlight exceptional commitment to dual vocational training and to draw young people’s attention to attractive training organisations in the region.
The FBN is delighted with this recognition and sees the award as an incentive to continue investing wholeheartedly in the training of young skilled workers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
