Together with the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Research Centre for Agriculture and Fisheries (LFA MV), the FBN invited experts from practice, industry and research to discuss the potential of this innovative sector.
With 31 participants, the event was well attended and met with great interest. The focus was on the potential uses of insects in animal nutrition - particularly in poultry and pig feeding and in aquaculture. Feeding with insects could not only improve animal welfare, but also offer a sustainable alternative to soya. The opportunities for farms to develop insect farming as an additional source of income were also discussed.
The successful start of the insect round table shows: There is great interest in innovative solutions in agriculture. Due to the positive response, another event is already in preparation and will be announced in good time.
