Dr Till Backhaus, Minister for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and the Environment, presented the trophy and certificate on 12 September in front of numerous industry representatives in the pig tent at the trade fair. The brood sow Uschi, currently in her 13th litter, leads the herd book of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 156 piglets born. The saddle pig was born on 15 February 2019 and weighs more than 300 kilograms.

Marianne Zenk, head of the experimental pig facility at the FBN, was awarded the prize for the best breeding sow 2025 at the 34th MeLa, the trade fair for agriculture, food and rural perspectives, which took place in Mühlengeez from 11 to 14 September.
