EuroFAANG is a Horizon-Europe funded INFRA development project with the aim to consolidate the pan-European G2P research landscape of livestock and aquaculture and to be included as a research infrastructure on the Roadmap 2026 within the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) to ensure multilateral cooperation and strategic development of the field. The FBN has coordinated EuroFAANG and FBN scientists have participated in several WPs. Since 2023, the specialist areas of biobanking, genome editing, breeding applications using G2P data, deep phenotyping and big data approaches have been conceptually further developed. As part of the emerging research infrastructure, various FBN expertise will be made available as a service or as part of TNA programmes. Single cell analysis is a rapidly developing field that is used in several specialised areas. Challenges and solution approaches across the various workflow processes from sampling and sequencing to data integration will be presented during the workshop. Both scientific experts and leading companies will have their say. A trade fair exhibition offers all interested parties the opportunity to find out about technical innovations. Highlights include the keynote speech by Alex Clop and Yu Lian from CRAG (Centre for research in agricultural genomics) in Barcelona, who are researching single cell multisome approaches to sperm quality and survival in pigs, as well as the training course on the second day, which will teach analysis techniques, including data processing, statistical analyses and visualizations.
