The FBN Graduate School provides an optimal environment to support doctoral students in their academic development and thus help them successfully complete their dissertation projects. To this end, a Thesis Committee guides doctoral students throughout their time at the FBN. During regular meetings, the Thesis Committee and the doctoral candidates discuss the progress of the research project as well as their personal development, working closely together to determine the best path to a successful doctorate.
Seminars and workshops also provide doctoral candidates with fundamental knowledge in various subject areas. Among other things, they acquire important core competencies in the areas of
- Statistics
- Experimental design
- Presentation of research in the form of posters and lectures
- Writing scientific publications
- Data protection
- Ethics
- Good scientific practice
In addition to seminars and workshops, the training program also includes laboratory internships in the various service and research groups at the FBN. This focuses on both the transfer of knowledge and the networking of early-career researchers at the FBN. However, the FBN Graduate School actively promotes not only connections within the FBN but also international networking. This results in a comprehensive training program that optimally prepares doctoral students for independent research after completing their doctorate.
Upon successful completion of the FBN Graduate School, doctoral students receive a certificate attesting to their acquired skills and scientific achievements.
