We conduct research into responsible and resource-conserving livestock farming as an indispensable part of sustainable agriculture
At the Research Institute of Farm Animal Biology (FBN), we develop concepts for the agricultural livestock farming of the future. We conduct research into the physiological and ethological capabilities of animals, their interaction with the environment and the underlying regulatory and adaptive mechanisms. This enables us to derive scientifically grounded insights and sustainable solutions that reconcile animal welfare and health, efficient resource utilisation and the promotion of biodiversity. In this way, we support sustainable agriculture that addresses both the needs of the animals and the requirements of society.
